Spurs: Conte interested in Evan Ndicka

Tottenham are interested in a deal to bring Evan Ndicka to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a claim made by Fabrice Hawkins, with the French journalist revealing on Twitter (via Sport Witness) that Antonio Conte’s side are now tracking the Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back ahead of a potential move at the end of the current campaign.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/tottenham-hotspur-latest-news-updates-transfer-rumours-gossip-spurs-thfc-conte-paratici” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, transfer rumours and more!”]

Hawkins added that both Manchester United and AS Monaco are also interested in a deal for the 22-year-old this summer, although the former France under-21 international has not ruled out the possibility of remaining in Frankfurt in order to play Champions League football with the newly-crowned Europa League winners.

“One of the leaders”

Considering just how impressive Ndicka has been in Germany this season, and with the signing of a left-footed centre-back being one of Antonio Conte’s priorities this summer, it is unsurprising to learn of the 52-year-old’s interest in the Frenchman.

Indeed, over his 32 Bundesliga appearances this term, the £25.2m-rated talent has been “one of the leaders” (according to Frankfurt journalist Christopher Michel) in Eintracht’s backline, helping his side to keep five clean sheets, along with making 1.5 interceptions, 1.9 tackles and 4.1 clearances and winning 6.2 duels (at a success rate of 60%) per game.

The left-footed defender has also highly impressed in an attacking capacity, scoring four goals, registering four assists and creating three big chances for his team-mates, in addition to making 48.8 passes, taking 0.8 shots and completing 0.4 dribbles per match.

These returns have seen the player who Michel also dubbed an “incredible” talent average a remarkable SofaScore match rating of 7.12, ranking him as Oliver Glasner’s second-best performer in the German top-flight behind Filip Kostic.

Furthermore, according to FBRef data, Ndicka also ranks in the top 6% of centre-backs in Europe’s big five leagues for aerial duels won per 90, as well as the top 5% for blocks, the top 13% for pressures, the top 22% for tackles, the top 3% for assists and the top 20% for dribbles completed over the last 365 days.

As such, should the Frenchman indeed be available for as little as €20m (£17m) this summer, it would seem advisable for Fabio Paratici to launch an offer for the Eintracht Frankfurt starlet, as Ndicka undoubtedly has the potential to become a leader in Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur defence.

West Ham interested in Jobe Bellingham

West Ham United are reportedly tracking the progress of highly-rated Birmingham City teenager Jobe Bellingham, according to reports.

What’s the word?

As per TEAMtalk, the Hammers have been named as one of a significant number of clubs who are ‘taking an interest’ in the 16-year-old starlet, with teams both at home and abroad vying to snap up the younger brother of Borussia Dortmund and England gem, Jude.

While the older member of the Bellingham clan has also been linked with a high profile switch following his impressive displays for the Bundesliga outfit over the past two seasons – having made the move from St Andrew’s in July 2020 – the report suggests that the future of the 18-year-old is not tied to that of his younger brother.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-this-weeks-latest-west-ham-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-more” title= “Read the latest West Ham news!”]

As the report explains, it is their parents’ wish for the duo to be treated as individuals rather than as a pair, with Jobe – who has been linked with both Sunderland and Liverpool of late – seemingly set to carve out his own path.

The next Joe Cole?

Although not necessarily an addition to the club’s youth set-up, the arrival of the midfield “wonderkid” – as he has been dubbed by TEAMtalk – would represent another coup for a club that has been famed for its development of young, prodigious talent over the last few decades.

Dubbed the ‘Academy of Football’ for their ability to produce the very best emerging talent, it would seem that there is no better home for young Bellingham than that of the London Stadium, with the precocious gem likely to benefit immensely from the Hammers’ faith and trust in youth.

While it may appear unlikely for the Blues ace to be thrust straight into the first-team with the east London outfit – having made only two Championship appearances to date – the club does have precedent for throwing young stars in at the deep end.

One such figure that burst onto the scene at the tender age of just 17 was Joe Cole, the Englishman making his senior debut against Swansea City back in 1999, having been earmarked as the next biggest thing years earlier while part of the academy system.

Despite the weight of expectation on his shoulders, the playmaking genius soared at senior level, dazzling the Upton Park crowd over the coming years, eventually being named captain at just 21 after developing into something of a talisman for the club.

Although he would eventually join Chelsea in 2003 after the Irons suffered a shock relegation, he remains a notable success story for the club, as well as proving the old cliche that if you are good enough, you are old enough.

It remains to be seen just quite how good a talent Bellingham is – with expectations having sky-rocketed due to his brother’s form – although on the early evidence West Ham could have a real player on their hands if they are able to do a deal, with the player’s current boss Lee Bowyer having lavished him with praise following his senior debut earlier this year.

Amid the thought of an exciting, young, English midfield star in a Hammers shirt, it can only generate hopes that the club have finally found their next Cole.

Leeds: Phil Hay drops Calvin Ramsay update

Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay has admitted that the club are hoping to sign Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay this summer.

The Lowdown: Aberdeen green-light sale

The Whites are on the verge of relegation with just two games remaining but appear to be making a head start when it comes to potential summer signings.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-news-43/” title=”Latest Leeds United news!” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cropped-2022-03-10T184055Z_1834933207_UP1EI3A1FW561_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-LEE-AVA-REPORT-1-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

One of those could be Ramsay, with reports at the end of April claiming Leeds have been granted permission to talk with the Scot as they plot a ‘multi-million pound’ move.

Aberdeen are ready to cash in on the 18-year-old and have green-lighted a possible move to Elland Road to bring in some much-needed funds.

Liverpool have also been name-checked with an interest in the ‘unbelievable’ (Ryan Taylor, Daily Express journalist) full-back, who has made 33 appearances for The Dons this season.

The Latest: Hay’s post

Hay took to Twitter on Friday morning to share a story on The Athletic regarding Ramsay. He said:

“This got a bit lost yesterday but Calvin Ramsay at Aberdeen is one of the players Leeds United hope to sign in the next window.

“Liverpool want the 18-year-old too and he’s getting close to make-your-mind-up time.”

The Verdict: End of Ayling?

Should Leeds end up back in the Championship next season, you’d expect that they would have to offer Ramsay regular first-team football for him to choose Elland Road over Anfield.

Therefore, Luke Ayling’s future could be in serious doubt ahead of Jesse Marsch’s first full season in charge. He’ll turn 31 in August and will be into the final 12 months of his Leeds deal.

Cody Drameh would also be an option for Marsch following his impressive loan spell at Cardiff City, and it looks unlikely he’ll leave if the Whites find themselves in the second-tier next season, meaning Ayling may have to make way for the next generation in Ramsay and Drameh.

Spurs: Paratici handed De Vrij boost

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a huge boost in their bid to bring Stefan de Vrij to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by Football Insider, who claim that a recruitment source has revealed that Inter Milan have informed the centre-back he will be free to leave San Siro this summer for a figure in the region of £15m.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news!”]

The report goes on to state that the Serie A side are yet to open new contract talks with the Netherlands international – whose current deal expires in the summer of 2023 – and are now willing to cash in on the 30-year-old for a cut-price fee, with Tottenham, Newcastle United and Aston Villa all thought to be keen.

Paratici must move

Considering the fact that De Vrij previously commanded an asking price of £40m, in addition to it being reported that Spurs are in the market for a left sided-centre-back and Antonio Conte being known to be a huge fan of the defender after working together in Italy, it would appear as if Fabio Paratici simply must make a move for the Dutchman this summer.

Indeed, over his 32 Serie A appearances under the management of Conte last season, the £31.5m-rated centre-back highly impressed in the Nerazzurri’s title-winning campaign, helping his side keep 11 clean sheets, as well as making an average of 1.3 interceptions, 0.9 tackles, 2.9 clearances and winning 3.3 duels – at a success rate of 60% – per game.

These metrics saw the £116k-per-week left-footer who former Lazio defender Mauricio dubbed a “monster” average a very respectable SofaScore match rating of 7.03, ranking him as Inter’s tenth-best performer in the league.

As such, taking into account his undoubted ability, Spurs’ rather desperate need for a new left-sided centre-back and an asking price that is under half of his current Transfermarkt valuation, it would appear a very wise move for Paratici to launch an offensive for the 30-year-old in the coming months – as signing De Vrij for just £15m would certainly be something of a bargain.

AND in other news: Contact made: Paratici now in talks for £35m Spurs deal, he’d be a “leader” for Conte

Sunderland injury blow update

Sunderland will take on Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off semi-finals on Friday evening and after a long season, the Black Cats have inevitably taken some hits with injury issues towards the end of the season.

Now a new update has emerged on Nathan Broadhead’s progress with his injury.

What’s the latest?

Broadhead took to Twitch with team-mate Jordan Willis to give a six-word update on whether he would be available for the game on Friday.

The Black Cats forward said (via The 72):

“I don’t know, we’ll see tomorrow.”

The 24-year-old suffered a first-half injury in the final game of the season against Morecambe after he scored the winner in the 10th minute.

Supporters will be worried

In an ideal world Sunderland would have all of their players fit and available for selection to give the League One play-offs the best shot, but with Dennis Cirkin, Carl Winchester and Nathan Broadhead a huge doubt for the first leg of the semi-final this week, supporters will surely be worried.

Everton loanee Broadhead has been hugely influential in his team’s progress since Alex Neil arrived at the club in February, with the centre-forward scoring five goals in his last seven outings in League One, so losing him at this stage will surely dent the momentum the team has been on in their final weeks of the season.

Alex Neil revealed his frustration at losing the star striker in his post-match interview against Morecambe after securing fifth place in the league table;

“The worry we’ve got now is we’ve finished the game with no centre forward on the pitch, I brought Stewart off because I knew the scores elsewhere.

“He’s literally [our only striker]. I don’t need to say anything else do I?”

With Broadhead’s fitness hanging in the balance, the Black Cats’ boss will likely need to rethink his strategy for getting past Sheffield Wednesday and securing the final at Wembley over the next two games.

With the team coming so far under Neil he will surely be hoping he can have the ultimate impact by winning a promotion spot to the Championship next season.

Wolves must unleash Leonardo Campana

Wolves may already own an asset who can help them to rectify their lack of goals, and you may struggle to guess who that is…

Struggling to score

Wolverhampton Wanderers have struggled to score goals this season, with Bruno Lage’s side netting just 33 goals in the Premier League – a stat that means they are the fifth worst attacking side in the league with an average of just one goal per match.

The Molineux side’s top goal scorer in the Premier League this season is Raul Jimenez with just six goals – a tally that sees the Mexican rank 45th in the league’s goal-scoring charts this campaign.

The season has not been prosperous for Jimenez, who has missed the most big chances in the Wolves side this season with eight missed.

On the chalkboard

Lage is admittedly frustrated with Wolves’ lack of goals this season as he stated after the 1-0 defeat to Burnley: “We are not scoring goals, we are not taking our chances since the first day.”

One of the Old Gold’s loan stars, however, is not experiencing the same feelings as Lage or Wolves. That man is Learnardo Campana – a player “who can’t stop scoring” according to the MLS via Twitter.

6 foot 2 Campana, who has not played a single minute for Wolves’ first team, is lighting up the MLS with David Beckham-owned Inter Miami CF.

The 21-year-old Ecuadorian has seized his opportunity in Phil Neville’s side this season, netting second top scorer in the league and meaning he has outscored Gonzalo Higuain so far this season.

Campana’s form has seen him bench the former Real Madrid bagsman and his hat-trick in the 3-2 win against New England Revolution would have sent a clear message to Bruno Lage.

With the season in America not long starting, Campana has notched up a total of six goals in 29 matches in the league this season for Wolves.

If Lage wants him for next season, he will have to convince the player directly, with Inter Miami holding an option to buy clause.

If not, this could potentially turn out to be a big mistake for the Old Gold who would see Campana as one that got away…

Player wants to leave Tottenham in January just months after signing eight-figure deal

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is now having to deal with unsettled players as he also prepares for a vital North London derby this weekend, according to a new report.

Spurs, under the new leadership team of co-sporting directors Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange, are bracing for a significant January transfer window where several fringe players could well depart N17.

The most high-profile of them appears inevitable for Yves Bissouma, whose spell at Spurs appears to be nearing a conclusion. The 28-year-old Mali international’s contract expires in June 2026, positioning him for a potential free transfer next year amid ongoing interest from Galatasaray after they failed to sign him in the summer.

Frank has already criticised Bissouma for his punctuality and discipline, explaining at the start of 2025/2026 that the midfielder “has been late several times and the latest time was one too many”.

The midfielder is currently absent with an ankle problem and hasn’t featured in a competitive game all season, but The Mail report Bissouma’s contract includes a one-year extension option — meaning they might not lose him for free next year after all.

In any case, they’d also only trigger it if they can’t sell him in the winter, and Bissouma isn’t the only player who could leave in under two months time.

Indeed, Richarlison’s future also hangs in the balance.

The forward’s own contract runs out in 2027, and he’s struggled for consistency not just this season, but ever since his £60 million move from Everton in 2022. Richarlison is believed to be attracting interest from his former club and Frank reportedly views the 28-year-old as ‘expendable’, meaning a January exit for the Brazil international isn’t ruled out despite Dominic Solanke’s injury woes.

On-lookers wouldn’t be at all surprised if one of the aforementioned pair left Spurs in the winter, provided they can sign a replacement for Richarlison, but a much more surprising name has now been touted for the exit door as well.

Mathys Tel keen to leave Tottenham in January and 'unhappy' in London

Just months after his £30 million permanent move from Bayern Munich, Roma have now emerged as potential January suitors for striker Mathys Tel.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the 20-year-old is unhappy in London and keen on departing Tottenham when the winter window opens, which comes as a shock given he’s basically only just arrived and performed fairly well when called upon.

Tel scored Tottenham’s equaliser against Man United last time out with an excellent finish on the turn, and opened the scoring in Spurs’ 2-1 win away to Leeds just before the October international break.

However, he was also controversially excluded from Tottenham’s 22-man Champions League squad by Frank, owing to the limited numbers they could select due to homegrown quota issues.

Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini has identified Tel as his primary target, viewing the youngster as someone with significant room for development who possesses the ideal profile to strengthen Roma’s attacking options.

La Gazzetta even suggests that Spurs could green-light a loan deal as opposed to an outright sale, but given both Randal Kolo Muani and Solanke’s struggles to stay fit, this would be rather unwise.

Given Frank’s limited attacking options, Roma’s apparent optimism about securing a deal may prove very premature. Tottenham need more options up top, not less, and Tel is someone who’s still raw but could pay dividends in the future as he continues to adjust to life in England.

Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann once backed Tel to become a ’40 goal a season’ striker, and while he’s still some way off that, letting him leave certainly doesn’t benefit the Lilywhites in any way.

Leeds have an incredible 18-year-old who looks like the next Archie Gray

In recent years, Leeds United have seen a whole host of exciting, raw gems from the Thorp Arch academy structure explode into life in the senior set-up.

While he has gone on to have an up-and-down career since exiting the Whites, Kalvin Phillips’ name has to be mentioned when looking back at academy starlets coming good at Elland Road, with the Leeds-born midfielder going on to collect 14 goals and 13 assists in the first-team picture at his boyhood side. Safe to say, Marcelo Bielsa turned him into an elite talent.

Kalvin Phillips

Archie Gray is also another glaring example of the conveyor belt approach in West Yorkshire working wonders.

Daniel Farke and Co only had the adaptable teenager in the first team ranks for one season before he was poached by a Premier League outfit.

Gray's insane rise at Leeds

Despite having such a long-standing reputation for giving up-and-coming youngsters first-team minutes when ready, no homegrown starlets were present on Farke’s bench for the recent trip to Fulham.

Gray was also nowhere to be found in the Tottenham Hotspur lineup, either, against West Ham United later that Saturday, with a major concern now that the 19-year-old could be Phillips 2.0; another expensive failure in the Premier League when leaving the comforts of West Yorkshire behind.

With hindsight now firmly on side, Gray might well have been better placed to stay put at Leeds for the foreseeable, instead of sealing a £30m move to North London.

Still, those at Leeds no doubt loved every minute of the teenage sensation’s career in the first-team mix at Leeds, even if promotion failed to be secured, with the England U21 regular turning quickly into a starter week in, week out for Farke.

Indeed, Gray left having tallied up 52 appearances in the first-team ranks from just one season, with the 6-foot-2 wonderkid’s ability to line up as a central midfielder or as a full-back, making him a dependable figure, even at such a young age.

Losing the versatility of Gray, therefore, would have hurt Leeds as much as both Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter vacating the building did, with the teenager even being lauded as “elite” from his very early days in West Yorkshire by the iconic Bielsa.

Still, losing Gray for that aforementioned £30m won’t hurt too much anymore as Leeds now find themselves in the same division as their ex-academy product.

Yet, they wouldn’t say no to having a fresh version of the 19-year-old, with another academy sensation now aiming to make the grade required to break into the senior ranks very soon.

The next version of Archie Gray at Leeds

Amazingly, while their former number 22 is no longer around, there is still a lingering Gray family connection at Elland Road.

Indeed, Harry Gray – who is the brother of the £30m star – is now being tipped to reach some incredible heights in West Yorkshire, having already netted four goals in Premier League 2 action this season.

Staggeringly, this isn’t the only narrative that “runs in the family” – as analyst Ben Mattinson has quipped – with Charlie Cresswell’s sibling in Alfie Cresswell making similar waves in the U21 set-up, with a route up to the first-team not looking like the most daring next step for the 18-year-old already.

With two goals next to his name in Premier League 2 action, many looking in might well anticipate that Cresswell is a player who regularly lines up in the forward areas.

In The Pipeline

Football FanCast’s In the Pipeline series aims to uncover the very best youth players in world football.

However, when assessing the various positions he can slot into, the argument that he could be the next Gray-style talent undoubtedly strengthens.

Looking at the table above, Cresswell has routinely switched between playing in the middle of the park and as a right-back for the U18s and U21s.

Coincidentally, those are the two main positions Gray used to fill under Farke’s tutelage, with Gray even taking on a centre-back role at Spurs on occasion, like the 18-year-old’s main preference.

Therefore, the hope will be that Cresswell can go on to be a similarly standout success story like the Spurs number 14, as the next generation at Leeds aim to make significant strides to be remembered like Phillips and others before them.

Spurs tried to sign £43m star after Kolo-Muani, he was Frank's top target

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank identified a “superstar” as a priority target after Randal Kolo-Muani, with a late approach being made on deadline day.

Spurs tried to sign another forward after Kolo-Muani

In one of the surprise moves of deadline day, Spurs got Kolo-Muani through the door, with the Frenchman joining on a straight loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain.

Frank has since explained why he decided to bring in the PSG forward, who has predominantly featured at striker throughout his career to date, rather than signing a new winger.

The Tottenham manager said: “He’s a good age, in the prime of his career, has good qualities that will suit both us and the Premier League,”

“He gives us a different option in the final third, being able to play out wide and through the middle. Randal is a quality player who has proven himself over a number of years, playing for big teams in the Champions League and also with good experience for the France national team.”

However, while Frank was clearly delighted to get Kolo-Muani through the door, the Dane identified another forward as a priority target in the final hours of the transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur managerThomasFrankcelebrates after the match

That is according to a report from GiveMeSport, which states the manager was eyeing Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman as his top target, but Tottenham were ultimately unable to come to an agreement with the Italian club.

It is revealed that Spurs wanted to sign Lookman on a straight loan, rather than forking out the £43m it would’ve taken to get a deal over the line, meaning they have now missed out on his signature.

With the forward’s proposed move to Bayern Munich also falling through, he could be set to remain at Atalanta until January, at which point the Lilywhites may have the opportunity to make another approach, given that he is well-known to have fallen out with his club.

"Superstar" Lookman could've been quality signing for Spurs

Tottenham were clearly reluctant to splash the cash on deadline day, having also signed Kolo Muani on a straight loan deal, which includes no option or obligation to buy, and they may have missed out on a top player.

Sold for £6.7m: Spurs must regret selling star who's outscoring Kolo Muani

After Tottenham signed Randal Kolo Muani on deadline day for a €5m loan fee, should Spurs regret selling a striker who has outscored the Frenchman?

Lauded as a “superstar” by 90min’s Sean Walsh, the 27-year-old has taken his career to new heights since arriving in the Serie A, picking up a very impressive 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 appearances for the Italian club.

As such, the Nigeria international may now be ready to test himself in the Premier League once again, despite not setting the world alight during previous stints with Fulham, Leicester City and Everton.

Spurs could land a major Spence upgrade with move for £30m star

Fair to say, a busy summer awaits for Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are currently down in 17th place in the Premier League table, thereby on course for their lowest finish since being relegated in 1977, suffering a 20th league defeat of the season at Villa Park on Friday night.

Of course, Ange Postecoglou team could capture the club’s first silverware in 17 years and secure a spot in next season’s Champions League with victory over Manchester United in Wednesday’s Europa League Final at San Mamés; what a key game that’ll be for both.

Regardless of the outcome in Bilbao, supporters will demand a busy summer window from Daniel Levy, so are Spurs favourites to sign a highly-rated Ligue 1 star?

Djed Spence's up and down Spurs career

Djed Spence joined Tottenham from Middlesbrough for a reported fee of £12.5m, that could rise to £20m, in 2022, but fair to say he did not make an immediate impact.

Then-manager Antonio Conte described him as a “club signing”, which Spence himself admitted this “shattered my confidence”, shipped out on loan to Stade Rennais, Leeds United, and then Genoa.

It took 881 days for Spence to make his Premier League debut for Tottenham, this coming against Southampton in December, before quickly establishing himself as a key figure, with Postecoglou praising his performances as “outstanding”.

Nevertheless, he is no longer in Postecoglou’s first-choice lineup, not starting any of the four Europa League quarter-final or semi-final ties, so could Spurs target a Spence upgrade?

Spurs could sign Spence upgrade

According to a recent report by Danny Rust and Dean Jones of Give Me Sport, Tottenham are ‘at the front of the queue’ to sign Monaco defender Vanderson, who is valued at £30m.

The 23-year-old joined les Monégasques from Grêmio for a reported fee of around £9m in January 2022, instantaneously establishing himself as a first-team regular, making 124 appearances for the club to date.

Writer Moby Haque labels him as “versatile”, while Luke Entwistle from Get French Football News describes the Brazilian as ‘well-balanced’ and ‘very competent’, impressed by his ‘positioning, intense pressing and strong tackling’.

Meantime, Chris Beaumont from Total Football Analysis believes he is a high-quality youngster, and Tom Beattie of Yahoo Sports says Vanderson is ‘characterised by his strong defensive prowess’, so let’s see how he compares to Spence.

As the table outlines, Vanderson’s statistics are almost unanimously more impressive than Spence’s, both in terms of creating chances and defending; his ball recovery number specifically stands out, ranked 18th in Ligue 1 and 33rd in this season’s Champions League for this metric.

Thus, Vanderson would surely be an excellent addition for Spurs, although they may require a victory over Man United on Wednesday to attract him to North London.
