Tottenham Hotspur remain anxious about Harry Kane’s future at the club, per The Daily Mail.

What’s the word?

A special report detailing Jose Mourinho’s first days as manager claims that the Portuguese has leaned heavily on the England international.

He is said to have held one-on-one chats with the forward, although there are reported to be doubts within the club over his future, should Spurs’ trophy drought extend beyond next season.

The club have not won a major honour since 2008 when Juande Ramos’ side won the League Cup at Chelsea’s expense.

Mourinho’s job

Spurs have appointed Mourinho as manager for this very reason.

He has won a trophy at every club he has managed since Porto and one has to feel that his remit is to bring genuine success to the north Londoners.

Kane, for his part, has not shown any desire to leave the club and he is tied to Spurs until 2024, with Transfermarkt valuing him at £135m.

Nevertheless, it is better to be safe than sorry and it is on Mourinho to fashion this side into one capable of winning major trophies, be it the Premier League, the Champions League or the FA Cup.

It remains to be seen if he will be successful but if he is, expect Kane, and other major stars, to be more than happy to stick around.

Speaking after Manchester United’s 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that the league table is “not the biggest concern” at this moment in time.

What did he say?

The Red Devils arrived on Sunday on the back of a defeat to FC Astana in the Europa League, with Solskjaer making several changes to his starting line-up. Despite going 2-1 up in the second-half, United conceded an equaliser just a couple of minutes later, with the draw leaving them in ninth place in the Premier League.

And even though his side remain eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea who occupy that final Champions League qualifying spot, Solskjaer brushed off any concerns that they may be falling too far back.

He said (as quoted by Sky Sports): “We are a young team. I don’t want to use that as an excuse because we are Man United and we want to get a run together. As soon as we get a run of three or four games together here now, that’s what we need.

“The league table at this point is not the biggest concern because it’s so tight. What I can say is that so far we’ve had the lead in so many games and we haven’t been able to win those games – six or seven times, I’m sure – and we should be better at turning those games into wins. I think there’s loads of evidence that these boys are closer to winning games than losing games and tipping those margins in our favour.”

Blind to reality

Whilst United may have actually gained a point on Chelsea following the Blues’ surprise defeat to West Ham on Saturday, things are beginning to get more bleaker in their pursuit for the top four. Both Arsenal and Tottenham have sacked their under-performing managers this season, with the latter in particular seeing a real upturn in form since appointing Jose Mourinho. The Lilywhites have moved ahead of Solskjaer’s side and into fifth.

The north London clubs have hit the reset button in a bid to rescue their season and faltering Champions League qualifying hopes, whereas United appear content to ride out this long-term project with Solskjaer at the helm. The Norwegian’s declaration that the league table isn’t that important at the moment speaks to someone who is oblivious to the major pitfalls they may encounter in the short-term. If they can’t pull out a couple of wins in the immediate future, then the Red Devils may well be staring at Europa League football once more even at this stage of the campaign.

تحدث حسين لبيب رئيس اللجنة الجديدة المكلفة بإدارة نادي الزمالك، عن توليه مهمة إدارة القلعة البيضاء خلال الفترة المقبلة، مهنئًا الأهلي بعد تأهله لدور نصف نهائي بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا.

وقال حسين لبيب في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “ام بي سي مصر”: “هناك تحديات كثيرة في نادي الزمالك، أولها الأزمة المالية، ومنذ حوالي أسبوعين جلسنا وفكرنا في خطط سنبدأ العمل عليها فور استلامنا المهمة”.

واستطرد: “في أول ثلاثة أسابيع سنبدأ في جني ثمار هذه الخطط، مدة عمل اللجنة ستكون حوالي خمسة أشهر لحين إجراء الانتخابات، والهدف الأول هو إجرائها”.

وأكمل رئيس الزمالك: “سنحاول أن نصل بالزمالك إلى بر الأمان، ومن المهام الموكلة إلينا من وزير الشباب أن نجري الانتخابات بطريقة حيادية، وسنبذل أقصى جهد لدينا، سنحاول أن نزيل أي عقبات أمام المدير الفني، ولن نتدخل في عمله على الإطلاق، نطمئن جماهير الزمالك وكل الأعضاء، أولى القرارات سيكون هناك متحدثًا إعلاميًا للنادي وللكرة، ولن يكون هناك تدخل من طرفنا في أي شيء”.

وتابع: “ديون نادي الزمالك كبيرة، لن أذكر أرقام حتى نتأكد منها، هدفنا الحفاظ على الكيان، ونفتح الباب أمام الجميع”.

وأشار: “تجديد عقود اللاعبين من أولويات مهمتنا، الفريق يسير بشكل مستقر، وسنسعى لدفع كافة المستحقات وأي لاعب يريد البقاء مع الفريق نعده بحل جميع المشاكل المالية”.

وبشأن تولى أحمد حسام ميدو مسؤولية ملف الكرة في الزمالك، أجاب: “لا يوجد قرار يصدر بشكل فردي، سنعقد اجتماع غدًا وسيتم تعيين متحدث رسمي باسم النادي، ومتحدث آخر باسم الفريق”.

وأضاف: “هناك 3 أعضاء في اللجنة لن يكون لهم حق الترشح، وهم حسين السمري وعاطف النمر وطارق جبريل، والباقي سيكون لهم حق الترشح للانتخابات القادمة”.

واختتم: “ليس لدينا أي مشكلة مع أي طرف، ونفتح صفحة جديدة مع الجميع، وأهنئ النادي الأهلي على تأهله المستحق إلى نصف نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا”.

أوضح المدرب الألماني، يواخيم لوف، المدير الفني لمنتخب ألمانيا، آخر تطورات إصابة لاعب وسط ريال مدريد، توني كروس بـ فيروس كورونا، قبل انطلاق بطولة الأمم الأوروبية (يورو 2020).

كروس مُصاب بـ كورونا، مُنذ 17 مايو الماضي، ولم يتعافى من الفيروس حتى الآن، وقال لوف إنّه بمجرد تعافيه من الإصابة، سيعود للماكينات الألمانية مُجددًا.

وقال لوف في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “موندو ديبورتيفو” الإسبانية: “كروس تم اختباره بالأمس وكان إيجابيًا وطالما لا يزال إيجابيًا عليه أنّ يظل في الحجر الصحي”.

Allan Saint-Maximin’s injury is a big blow for Newcastle but it could allow another capable player to step up and prove his worth.

Christian Atsu is similar to the Frenchman in terms of his pace and dribbling ability, and if he can add directness to his game that the 22-year-old often shows he could be very difficult to deal with.

The Ghana international has never really delivered for the Magpies since being signed by Rafa Benitez and has often struggled. That is reflected by the fact he has started just 34 league games in the previous two seasons, scoring only three goals in those outings.

Other than a small run of starts in September he has frequently been overlooked by Steve Bruce, too, but now there is a vacant position on the left flank he has the perfect opportunity to stake his claim.

It will be difficult to outperform Saint-Maximin, who has averaged 4.5 successful dribbles per game this term, but Atsu has arguably been more productive in the final third, and that means he is an asset.

Useful option

Operating with Atsu and Miguel Almiron on either flank may cause concern, but a closer look at Atsu’s record this season shows he can deliver for Bruce in the coming matches.

He has three assists despite making only four starts. That is more than Almiron and Saint-Maximin have managed combined, and his ability to pick out a cross could suit both Joelinton and Andy Carroll, who are adept in the air.

Against Southampton, they won ten and eight aerial duels respectively, and therefore Bruce should instruct Atsu to look to them whenever possible.

The 27-year-old averaged 2.08 chances created per game after game week 14, one of the best returns for players outside the top-six, and that suggests that he would be able to create numerous chances if he played more often.

Newcastle need that, certainly from open play where they have scored only ten goals this campaign, and if the winger proves to be as useful in that area then he could retain his place in the team even when Saint-Maximin returns.

He will, however, need to become more involved in matches, as he has averaged just 11.5 passes per game, though many of those were substitute appearances.

The Magpies need players to link up with the central striker and create chances for them if they are to progress, otherwise, they may have to continue relying on goals from defenders to bail them out of trouble.

Despite the injury to a key player and the lack of goals, Lee Charnley has suggested that signings aren’t very likely, which has sparked an angry response from fans.

Everton transfer target Adrien Rabiot still wants to leave Juventus amidst reports the midfielder has gone on strike, and some supporters at Goodison Park have been reacting to their supposed interest.

According to Foot Mercato, the 25-year-old has already spoken to Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti and state that a departure from the Serie A giants seems likely this summer.

Many fans have blasted his attitude, which is something they wouldn’t like to see in Merseyside despite the Frenchman being one of the first to accept a pay cut during the pandemic.

Rabiot only joined Juventus in the summer and has featured 24 times this campaign, failing to record a single goal or assist. As a defensive midfielder that isn’t so much a problem, especially as he averages 1.7 tackles and 1.3 dribbles per game, via WhoScored.

حقق قميص النجم البرتغالي كريستيانو رونالدو الخاص بفريق مانشستر يونايتد نسبة مبيعات مهولة، منذ الكشف عن رقمه عقب إتمام انتقاله رسميًا إلى النادي الإنجليزي.

وكان مانشستر يونايتد قد تمكن من استعادة خدمات كريستيانو رونالدو في موسم الانتقالات الصيفي لهذا العام، وذلك بعد التوصل إلى اتفاق مع يوفنتوس الإيطالي.

وبعد سلسلة من التكهنات والتقارير الصحفية، أعلن مانشستر يونايتد أن رونالدو سيرتدي قميصه الشهير في الأولد ترافورد، رقم 7، حيث سيرتدي إدينسون كافاني القميص رقم 21 بدلًا منه.

وذكرت شبكة “sportbible” الإنجليزية أنه منذ إطلاق قميص كريستيانو رونالدو مع مانشستر يونايتد في المتاجر، وهو يحقق نسبة مبيعات غير مسبوقة.

وأوضحت أن نسبة مبيعات قميص رونالدو بلغت 32.5 مليون جنيه إسترليني، في غضون 12 ساعة فقط من إطلاقه في متجر البيع.

وحسب شبكة “LoveTheSales” الإنجليزية، فإن تلك الأرقام تجعله أسرع قميص من ناحية البيع في تاريخ الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

O português não esqueceu também de agradecer à torcida e dedicar o título aos botafoguenses, que foram maioria no estádio do River Plate. Essa foi a final única com mais público na história da Libertadores, cerca de 71 mil presentes.
