أكد الفرنسي باتريس كارتيرون المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي الزمالك أن مباراة تونجيث السنغالي غدًا هي آخر مباراة في دور المجموعات ولها حسابات كثيرة، مشيرًا إلى أن مصير الأبيض ليس في يده.

الزمالك يواجه تونجيت السنغالي غدًا السبت على استاد القاهرة الدولي، ضمن منافسات الجولة السادسة والأخيرة لدور المجموعات من البطولة القارية.

وقال كارتيرون في المؤتمر الصحفي قبل المباراة: “أتمنى فوز الترجي التونسي على مولودية الجزائر كي يتأهل الزمالك في حالة فوزه على بطل السنغال غدًا”.

وأوضح أن الزمالك لن يتأثر بغياب أي لاعب في ظل وجود قائمة تضم مجموعة متميزة من اللاعبين.

وشدد على أن الزمالك مصيره في البطولة ليس في يده، موضحًا أن الزمالك سيلعب للفوز، ولكن يجب أن تخدم الظروف الفريق ويفوز الترجي على المولودية.

وتابع أنه عندما عاد للفريق وجد أسامة فيصل بعيدا عن مستواه، وطلب منه المشاركة في مباريات فريق الشباب لتجهيزه، واقترب فريق الشباب من الفوز ببطولة الجمهورية، موضحا أن المهاجمين المتاحين بالفريق لديهم كفاءة جيدة ولكنهم لم يكونوا جاهزين بنسبة 100%.

وأكد أنه عندما عاد للزمالك وجد الفريق يفتقد الروح القتالية للاعبين بخلاف عدم الجاهزية بنسبة كبيرة.

وعلق كارتيرون على بعض القرارات الانضباطية التي اتخذها تجاه بعض اللاعبين في الفترة الأخيرة، موضحا أنه يهدف لإعادة الفريق للطريق الصحيح، مشددا أيضا على أن هذه العقوبات لفترة مؤقتة، ولكنها ستعيد حالة الانضباط للفريق.

كشفت صحيفة “ذا صن” عن رغبة مدافع الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي مانشستر يونايتد، إريك بايلي، في الرحيل عن قلعة “أولد ترافورد” مع نهاية الموسم الحالي.

وينتهي عقد بايلي مع مانشستر يونايتد في يونيو 2022، ولكنه يريد المغادرة لعدم مشاركته المستمرة في مباريات الفريق الإنجليزي هذا الموسم تحت قيادة المدرب أولي جونار سولشاير.

يشعر الإيفواري الدولي بالإحباط الشديد بسبب الدقائق القليلة التي ظهر فيها بمباريات مانشستر يونايتد، حيث لم يشارك مع الفريق سوى في 4 مباريات متتالية وقت غياب فيكتور ليندلوف.

قدم بايلي مستوى جيدا في تلك المباريات ولكن مع عودة ليندلوف عاد من جديد إلى مقاعد البدلاء، ولذلك ينتظر الميركاتو الصيفي لبحث خيارات الرحيل.

وأفادت الصحيفة أن خيار عودة بايلي إلى الدوري الإسباني مفتوح بعد رحيله عن فياريال في صيف 2016، وسبق له اللعب ضمن صفوف إسبانيول.

Giroud, 33, has started just one game this season – against Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup. Impressively, he did manage to score in his one and only start this term, although it appears that he is after regular game time rather than a few minutes here and there.

Intriguingly, the report says that the former Montpellier forward would only cost the Eagles £3m, which would see the Blues record a huge loss on the £18m they spent on him in January 2018 – he has also earned £110k-a-week since signing.

واختتم: “هذه أول مباراة قمة لي، وحققنا الفوز وهذا أمر كبير، وبالنسبة للاعبين هذه مجرد مباراة في الدوري ولم نركز كثيرًا، وعملنا أن تكون الغيابات والأحاديث الخارجية استغللناها لصالحنا”.

Florian Lejeune damaged his anterior-cruciate ligament against Crystal Palace back in April, having recovered from the same problem a few months earlier, and now he is set to return to action. 

Lejeune, who proved a valuable asset for the Magpies during the 2017/2018 season, picking up two assists in the Premier League, will turn out for Newcastle U23s tonight as he looks to make his way back to the first team following a string of set backs.

The Magpies are currently short on defensive cover, with Fabian Schar out due to a knee injury, so the imminent return of Lejeune is a welcome sight for Steve Bruce’s side.

Lejeune has been steadily making his way back to full fitness over the last two months, rejoining training at the end of September and now ready to play his first full game this season.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “After undergoing surgery, he spent time at a rehabilitation centre in Rome before returning to Tyneside for pre-season, and has steadily built up the strength in his knee over the last few months.

“Lejeune has now returned to full training and will play his first match since his operation as Neil Redfearn’s under-23s take on their North East neighbours in Premier League 2.”

Speaking to Newcastle United’s official website, the 28-year-old stated how great Newcastle fans have been in motivating him to recover.

“I had great support from the whole of my family, the club and of course there were all the messages from the Newcastle fans which really touched me too,” said Lejeune.

“The fact that is I already have a good strong mentality and now after these two injuries I think that my mindset is even stronger.

“I think that I have done everything that I possibly could have done to make a full recovery in as short a period as possible.

“I’ve put everything in on my side, and the club can see all the work I do on a daily basis. So, I feel good mentally, it was just hard for me right at the beginning of my rehab, but the further on you get in the process, the closer you get towards the finish line.”

Indeed, Lejeune’s strength in the face of adversity has been commendable, and the Magpies will need plenty of that in their upcoming fight to avoid the drop.

A selection of Southampton fans were left astonished by Ralph Hasenhuttl opting to start James Ward-Prowse against Manchester City on Saturday, something that soon came back to bite them when he opened the scoring.

The 25-year-old central midfielder has started each of the Saints’ Premier League and Carabao Cup fixtures this season, and had not been withdrawn before the full-time whistle in any of his outings proceeding’s Saturday’s clash.

One fan noted that his inclusion in the XI to face Pep Guardiola’s title-holders was a sign of things ‘becoming a joke’ at St. Mary’s, while another added that Ward-Prowse must be displaying something special in training to impress Hasenhuttl.

Southampton supporters would seemingly have preferred that Hasenhuttl did not start the two-time England international against Manchester City on Saturday as he was ‘average’ in their previous fixtures, including Tuesday night’s EFL Cup clash with the Sky Blues.

Ward-Prowse assisted Jack Stephen’s late consolation strike at the Etihad during the week, but only managed to record one successful tackle from eight attempts, to achieve the worst success rate of any player at 13%, per WhoScored data.

The Southampton product also flattered to deceive against Leicester City in his prior Premier League appearance, too, as Ward-Prowse failed to register any successful tackles beyond the 30th-minute as the Foxes won 9-0.

وبحسب الصحفي الكتالوني، روجر تورييو، عبر القناة الثانية بالتلفزيون الإسباني أكد أن ميسي قد أبلغ إدارة برشلونة برغبته في الاستمرار.

وكانت القناة الثالثة الكتالونية أمس، الأربعاء، قد أفادت بأن ميسي يفكر في التوقيع على عقد خيالي مع برشلونة مدته 10 سنوات. (طالع التفاصيل)

Son Heung-Min endured an anguished weekend.

The South Korea international had registered an assist against Everton, putting the ball on a plate for Dele Alli to open the scoring at Goodison Park.

But then it all came crashing down.

Andre Gomes looked to break away on the left flank and Son brought him down.

It’s the kind of tackle that is ten-a-penny in the Premier League and referee Martin Atkinson initially looked poised to show the South Korea international a yellow card.

But as Gomes went down, his ankle twisted ghoulishly, leaving him with a fracture-dislocation and in need of a stretcher.

Son was distraught, crying upon seeing the impact of the injury on his Portuguese counterpart. Atkinson showed him a red card. He probably wouldn’t have been able to carry on, anyway, so heartbroken did he seem.

However, he returned to action on Wednesday evening, scoring twice as Spurs thumped Red Star Belgrade 4-0, leading to the image below…

The image comes with an added poignancy after Son’s distressed reaction to Gomes’ injury; he even refused to celebrate his goals in a gesture that he revealed was aimed towards the Toffees ace.

It has been a while since Spurs have hit any kind of form and their win on Wednesday was their first in three outings in all competitions.

Son, of course, is a remarkably popular member of the squad – both Dele Alli and Harry Kane revealed they attempted to comfort him on Sunday – and fans will surely have loved seeing him back to his smiley self.

They will hope that can continue this weekend, when Sheffield United visit north London.

According to Eldesmarque.com, Liverpool have entered the race to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG.

What’s the story?

The France international is said to be a primary objective for Real Madrid as he continues to dispatch all of those who come before him in Ligue 1.

However, Eldesmarque.com are reporting that the Reds are also keen on the 20-year-old. The article adds that, due to the fact Liverpool spent so little in the summer, they have deep pockets and could pay €250m (£215.4m) for the World Cup winner. That would be alongside his €40m (£34.4m)-a-year salary.

Wouldn’t be an automatic starter

There is no doubting that Mbappe is a world-class footballer. In the 158 professional club games he has played to date, he has scored 96 goals and provided 52 assists, and internationally, he already has 33 caps and has won the World Cup, in Russia last year.

However, would he even get in to Liverpool’s team? The answer is, probably not.

This season, he has played predominantly as a winger, with seven matches coming on the left and two on the right. On the flanks the Reds have Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. The former joined the Reds in 2017 and, since then, he has bagged 79 goals in 120 games, compared to the former Monaco man’s 69 in 98 during the same time period. Mbappe has the slightly better record, but whether he would be as prolific in a far more competitive league is up for debate. The Egypt international has proven his worth to Liverpool and is perhaps their star player. It would be foolish to take him out of the side.

It is the same in regards to Sadio Mane. The Senegal international does not have as strong a goal record over the last two-and-a-bit seasons – even if he does have an albeit impressive 56 strikes in 110 games – but he offers so much to Jurgen Klopp’s team. Lions of Teranga teammate Ismaila Sarr said that he is the best in the world for him and, if you think that the Watford winger’s opinion is too biased, then consider that Lionel Messi voted for the 27-year-old for UEFA’s The Best award this year.

Of course, Mbappe could feature as the striker – that is where he has played the most of his games, as per Transfermarkt – but Liverpool have Roberto Firmino. Yes, the Brazil international does not have a strong goalscoring record for a striker, with 44 goals in 119 games, but he doesn’t need to be as prolific with those other two alongside him. It is his teamwork that makes him such an important part of this side. Mbappe would struggle to fill in that role. For example, he averaged 4.2 attempted dribbles last season in the league at centre-forward compared to Firmino’s 2.1, which perhaps alludes to a lack of suitability to the role on offer at Liverpool.

Mane and Salah have already had their differences this term. Throwing another goal-hungry winger into the mix could disrupt the team’s harmony. Mbappe is a stunning footballer, and will go on to have a great career, we’re sure. But a move to Liverpool just doesn’t make that much sense at this .
